State Representative Jake Raburn Named Vice Chair of House Education
Appropriations Subcommittee

Valrico, Fla.—In his announcement of the 2014 committee memberships for the Florida
House of Representatives, Speaker Will Weatherford named State Representative Jake
Raburn (R-Lithia) as the Vice Chair of the Education Appropriations Subcommittee.

“Growing up surrounded by educators, including both my parents, I realize how critical it
is to support our public schools so that our students, our State’s future leaders, receive a
high quality education that prepares them to succeed in life, college and their careers,”
said Rep. Raburn. “I thank Speaker Weatherford for the opportunity to serve in this new
position on the committee this session and look forward to working closely with Chair
Fresen to develop thoughtful budget recommendations that will benefit our students,
teachers and schools.”

“Rep. Raburn’s family background in the public school system gives him a perspective of
the needs of our students, teachers and schools that is unique and will serve this
committee well. His support of last year’s significant education funding increases show
his dedication to providing our children with world class educational opportunities and
rewarding hardworking teachers,” said House Majority Leader Steve Crisafulli (R-Merritt
Island).

In the upcoming session, Rep. Raburn will continue to serve on the State Affairs
Committee, K-12, Health Innovation and Transportation & Highway Safety
Subcommittees.
